Some of the recent assignments undertaken and completed by IPID are as follows: - Social Assessments in the Buffer Zone Communities around Wasgomuwa, Peak Wilderness, Horton Plains, Bundala, Ritigala, Flood Plains, Minneriya and Uda Walawe Protected Areas to assess the nature of the interaction between the buffer zone communities and the protected areas.
- Moderation of the Asian Consultative Workshop on Biodiversity in Development Project (EC/DFID/IUCN) held in Dambulla, Sri Lanka from 26-30 July 1999
- Moderation of the Global Consultative Workshop on Biodiversity in Development Project (EC/DFID/IUCN) held in Brussels in January 2000.
- Social Appraisals of Community Forestry Projects, Commercial Forestry Projects and Rehabilitation of Degraded Forests implemented with support from the Asian Development Bank
- Impact Assessments of Natural Resource Management initiated by the International Resource Group on Natural Resource Management
- Development of a Strategic Plan for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Medicinal Plants in Sri Lanka, a Project implemented by the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medicine and IUCN with financial support from the World Bank.
