CPC Learning Network

Programme Learning Group in Sri Lanka

The Institute for Participatory Interaction in Development (IPID), as the official convener in Sri Lanka, is currently co-ordinating the establishment of the Programme Learning Group (PLG) in Sri Lanka as part of the global Agency Learning Network on the Care and Protection of Children in Crisis Affected Countries (CPC Learning Network).

The goal of the PLG Sri Lanka is to develop knowledge and the evidence base for good practice and policy in order to improve the care and protection of children and youth in crisis situations. The PLG in Sri Lanka is envisaged to bring together key Government, NGO and academic actors to strengthen and systematize child protection systems in Sri Lanka, as well as learn from, and inform global-level learning.

The CPC Learning Network’s unique structure provides that the PLG will be supported by Global Technical Groups that offer forward-thinking expertise on a range of topics within child protection.  Further, the PLG is designed to address the need for international policies and standards and Program Learning Groups that work at the local level. Further, the PLG Sri Lanka will be linked to other similar Programme Learning Groups in Uganda, Indonesia, Palestine, and possibly Liberia.

The establishment and operationalization of the PLG Sri Lanka will be supported by an identified technical Advisory Core Group representing the leading government and non government organizations that work on the child protection.

CPC Learning Network is an Agency Learning Network established by the CCF, the Institute for Development Studies (northern Uganda), International Rescue Committee (IRC), the Program on Forced Migration and Health at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, PULIH Indonesia, Save the Children, UNICEF, the Women’s Refugee Commission.  The goal of the CPC Learning Network is to strengthen and systematize child care and protection in crisis-affected settings through the collaborative action of humanitarian organizations, local institutions, and academic partners. The Program on Forced Migration and Health at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health acts as the Secretariat for the CPC Learning Network, which works across all levels of  this Network to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing, serves as an arbiter of evidence based, good practice; disseminates findings to inform the global policy dialogue/debates; and, assist with additional resource mobilization.
